Copy url feature

Reported by Robby Russell | May 7th, 2008 @ 05:56 PM

Chris,

As mentioned before to you, I want to be able to provide a quick way for people to grab the generated URL when using the web interface.

Something similar to how Skitch does it here:

Skitch.com
Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!

What can we do to the UI to account for this?

We can do that, although, the text field needs to be at least 3x bigger than skitch's

Want to give the UI changes a whirl and we'll go from there?

It appears that this functionality is only possible (cross-browser) through a flash-based approach. Javascript would talk to a small flash file which has the ability to write to the copy/paste buffer.

Don't think I want to introduce that into the site at this point... although, I suspect most people using RubyURL have flash installed and wouldn't notice.

    Thoughts?
